Have you heard the news???

Jeff & I are getting married!! Jeff proposed on December 9th, 2005. It was a snowy Friday and I was heading to Barrie with Jeff to do some Christmas shopping with his mom. I honestly don't even know how we made it to Barrie that morning the weather was so bad. If I was nervous just imagine how Jeff must have felt. He must have nerves of steel after that day. Anyway, the weather was so bad that Jeff's Mom, Pauline, couldn't make it to Barrie so I hung out with Jeff all day at his work. Somehow I don't think that fit in with his plan. After work we headed up to his parent's house in Bolsover. They have a house on the lake. Jeff was excited to be going up because he wanted to get out on his ATV. All week he kept talking about it. So right after dinner Jeff went out to start the ATV so we could go for a ride. To his dismay, he had a little trouble. Mice had built a nest in the bike and once he got that cleared out the bike wouldn't start. The ATV was the key to his plan. He wasn't leaving without getting it running. An hour and a half and a few frozen fingers later, he got it started. Meanwhile, Mom Longtin kept me occupied in the house searching for warm clothes for me to wear and just generally keeping me busy.(You see, she was in on it.) Once Jeff came in he pretended he was too cold to go back out just to make sure I hadn't changed my mind. I said "I'm half dressed already can't we go out just for a bit and see the Christmas lights around the lake?" He agreed. Now you have to picture this...I am dressed in a camoflouged long jacket, wool army pants (all Jeff's) and my black and green helmet. I kinds look like an alien. Definately not the picture of loveliness. Anyway, out we go into the cold, snowy night. Jeff takes me up the road oh, about 5 houses and says "how was that? have you seen enough?" and turned around. I smacked him and I wasn't sure if he was serious or not. All I could do is hang on for the ride. Well, he went passed the house and down onto the lake. It wasn't completely frozen yet so we had to stick close to shore. We headed up the lake where Jeff and Uncle Howard go hunting and turned left to a little bay. Jeff backed the bike up into the trees to cut down on the wind. I was a little suspicous he was up to something but certainly not a proposal. Jeff got us a couple of drinks that he'd brought with him and we sat for awhile just talking and enjoying each others company. It was really a beautiful night considering the weather we had and it wasn't too cold. After a bit Jeff said, "I think we need some light". I said, "no we don't, it's fine." But as usual he didn't listen to me and he got an aluminum flashlight which he proceeded to take the top off, making it look more like a candle. He took my right glove off and asked me to hold the flashlight. Then he asked me how my hands were. I said, "they are fine". He told me he had other gloves that that would be warmer. I continued to say I was fine and he continued not to listen to me and brought over the other gloves. He held the glove open so I could put my hand in but oops, there was something in the way as I reached my hand inside. I pulled out the object from the glove and discover a ring box. I stared at it for what seemed like forever before I open it and saw the most beautiful ring nestled inside and heard Jeff asking "will you marry me?" I looked up at him and said, "of course I will". We kissed and propose a toast to our new life together. We didn't head home straight away, we stayed awhile talking and just enjoying the moment. It was a beautiful moment, one of many, that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
