Wow, it has been 21/2 months since I've updated my blog. Sorry about that. It's difficult to find the time to do it with Ethan. I usually end up doing things late at night or it doesn't get done. While he's napping and I have just downloaded new photos from Christmas I will blog a little.
November - November brought Gee-Gee up for a visit for 2 weeks. We went shopping, out for lunch and a little visiting. Trying to see people before the snow flies when we won't get a chance to see anyone. We had a great time together and Ethan loved having his Gee-Gee here. He discovered she has a great lap!
Gee-Gee turned 93 this year and we celebrated by taking her to dinner at Kelsey's. It was a great time.
Ethan turned 3 months.
I took Ethan to his first Santa Clause Parade. Jeff thought I was crazy but I wanted to go so Ethan & I did. We met Ethan's friend Evan and his parent's. Ethan watched the parade apparently expression free according to Sarah, Evan's Mom. I couldn't see his face as he was in his carrier facing forward, which he can do now! It was a nice day, not too cold and it was snowy so it was perfect!
We had some upsetting news in November as well. A close friend of Jeff's girlfriend, Debbie Collette, passed away. Jeff & I didn't get to know Debbie very well but she was there for the important events in our life, our wedding and introducing our son to the family. We knew enough to know that she was a special person and had a real zest for life. She was a person that left an impression on you the moment you met her. We will miss Debbie.
I met a couple of ladies at our prenatal class and we started walking together in October, I think, well november marked the end of our walking but our friendship continues by visits where we share issues, concerns and milestones about our babies. It has been great meeting new people.
We also found out about a job change for Jeff. His branch is closing and he has the opportunity to merg with the "general" rentals branch. There is a lot for him to do and think about but the main thing is he has a job. We will worry about the rest later. I hope it all works out for Jeff, he certainly works hard enough.
December - Aidan turned 5 years old December 1st. 5 years old!!! I can't believe it. We went to Cambridge for the weekend to celebrate. We went 5 pin bowling. Aidan had a great time - we all had a great time. But it was so fun and cute watching him try something for the 1st time. I'll have to find the pics for his birthday and post some.
Pauline and I had a shopping day at the Vaugh Mills Mall. It was the best day. We used to do it in Brampton every year, midnight madness at the mall. We haven't done it for a few years and I so missed it. Well, we got back on track and I hope to make this our new Christmas tradition.
Auntie Margaret had us all for dinner. I think it's the first time we have all been together in years! When we were young we used to go for dinners quite often at Auntie Margaret's. She always served brussel sprouts and Mom made us eat them (yuck!) It wasn't until I was a lot older that I found out the only reason she served them was because it's the only veggie Jef would eat (her Jef). It was a larger group than way back when with the addition of spouses and children but there was a slight reminder of 2 important people that were missing as well. I'm sure they were looking down and happy that they had such wonderful friends that they choose as godparents as they have fulfilled that role time and time again.
Attended Pauline's Christmas Open house. It was smaller than passed years but it was a great evening. Lots of food, fun, drinks, friends and great conversations. We always enjoy going so it was good to get back on track this year.
For Ethan's 4 month birthday we took him to see Santa. He was soooo unimpressed by the guy in the red suit. He's so funny-it's very hard to impress him. We had a great laugh over his expression or lack there of. I will have to scan the photo. The one we went with he kinda has a bit of a smile.
Ethan laughed for the first time in December!!! He also rolled over from tummy to back!! December was a great month for 1st for Ethan. He had his 1st Christmas, you can't get much better than that!! He had an excellent Christmas. We had Christmas with Jeff's family on Christmas Eve where he was spoiled with clothes and toys and all kinds of things with his name on it. Christmas day we went to Paul and Donava's where we had a wonderful Christmas dinner and a great time with family. The next day we had our "Christmas". We didn't want to rush through everything on Christmas day so we decided to wait and take our time the next day. We opened our presents to each other and Ethan and relaxed and stayed in our jammies all day. It was the best day.
Our Christmas tradition is breakfast before presents and we light the memorial candle for Mom and Dad. We started this tradition last year.
We all received some great gifts but my favourite gift this year was my tripod and macro lenses from Jeff. Pauline gave me a great picture that says "family - people who share a common start and grow to share a common heart." I really liked that too!
Ethan liked the tree and the lights and he even got into the presents, with a little help. He liked the tissue paper and the noise it made. Well there's loads of pics, 250 to be exact but I will put up just a few. Enjoy.
New Year's Eve we stayed home but had Jeff's sister and her 2 boys and Jeff's friend Tom over to help us ring in the new year. It was low key but good. Happy 2009!
