Baby Update...Weeks 28 & 29

Went for my regular baby Dr. check -up, everything is going great. I now have to go to the Dr. every 2 weeks. Sometimes I wonder why I go. He doesn't really do anything. The nurse takes my blood pressure, listens to the baby, measures my expanding belly & then just let's the Dr. know how I am. He comes in asks how I am and if I don't have any questions he just tells me when to come back. It's also unlikely that he will deliver our baby as he said there's a 50% chance that he will. Nice...you go to the Dr & try and develop a relationship with him so you're comfortable when the time comes for him to deliver you and then some other Dr. you've never seen in your life is there to catch your precious babe. Kinda crazy if you ask me. Oh well that's our medical system for you. I guess I should be thankful I have a Dr. Yet I still need a GP.

I have been feeling pretty good - my siatica is bothering me so I asked for a Dr note to get massage therapy. Mom always told me I would have problems with my siatica if I ever got pregnant....she sure was right. Wish she were here to know that. I'd love to hear her say "I told you so". (not that she would). Sure is difficult not having her around at a time like this. I know she'd be here helping me and giving me advice. Instead, I'm going it alone and trying to remember what she would do or say.

The baby's position is sideways feet on my right side, head face down on my left side. Apparently, my yoga instructor said she knows of ways to turn the baby if it is breech (in the event Bumpkin doesn't turn on own) I thought that was pretty cool. I'm still taking yoga, just signed up for 8 more sessions which will take me to about 36 weeks. I really enjoy it for the relaxation aspect of it and being in tune with my body which certainly helps when you're pregnant and your body is changing so much.

This week I went for my glucouse test (blood sugar) for gestational diabetes. The stuff you have to drink is like the orange drink McD's used to have - usually supplied at schools for track n field events. So at first not bad, then yucky & finally gross. It's very sweet which is the point. I didn't feel all that hot afterwards and for most of the day. I will get the results next week.

The baby's room is coming along. A bit longer process than we'd hoped but we had some major stuff to do. We are almost finished the ceiling so once that's done we will be ready to wallpaper - picked up today - and paint and then lay the floor. I can't wait to see it finished! It's going to look great! Jeff is taking a weeks holidays the 1st week of July so it will definately get done then.

As of today, I am 30 weeks.....or in other words 10 weeks until we meet Bumpkin. Can hardly wait!!!
